Specs: Suspension, Speeds, and Brakes
suspension type
The ROCKBROS MT600 features a 140mm air suspension fork with hydraulic damping and lockout control. This setup helps absorb impacts on rough trails and allows you to adjust air pressure for your weight. The ROCKBROS 16-Inch Folding Bike does not list any suspension components. It relies on a rigid frame for urban commuting. If you ride on paved paths or gentle slopes, the lack of suspension keeps the bike simple and lightweight. For trail riding, the MT600’s air fork provides necessary comfort and control over bumps.
number of speeds
The MT600 offers a 12-speed drivetrain with an 11-50T cassette. This wide range supports efficient climbing and fast descents on varied terrain. The 16-Inch Folding Bike has a 7-speed gear system. It is designed for flat streets and gentle slopes in urban environments. The MT600’s 12-speed setup gives you more gear options for challenging trails. The folding bike’s 7 speeds are sufficient for daily commutes and city riding. Choose the MT600 for technical terrain, or the folding bike for simple city trips.
brake type
The MT600 is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes. These provide consistent stopping power and modulation, which is crucial for technical trails and steep descents. The 16-Inch Folding Bike does not specify its brake type in the provided data. Hydraulic brakes offer better control in wet or muddy conditions compared to mechanical systems. If you prioritize safety on steep off-road routes, the MT600’s hydraulic discs are a clear advantage. For flat urban areas, the folding bike’s brakes are adequate for its lower speeds.
wheel size
The MT600 uses 29-inch wheels with 2.2-inch tires. These large wheels roll over obstacles easily and maintain momentum on trails. The 16-Inch Folding Bike has 16-inch wheels. These smaller wheels make the bike compact and easy to fold for storage in cars or under desks. The MT600’s 29-inch wheels offer better traction and stability on rough ground. The folding bike’s 16-inch wheels prioritize portability and maneuverability in tight spaces. Your choice depends on whether you value trail performance or easy storage.
frame material
The MT600 features an aluminum frame. Aluminum is lightweight and durable, providing efficient power transfer for trail riding. The 16-Inch Folding Bike is constructed with high-strength materials to maintain structural integrity while keeping the weight around 11.5 kg. Both frames aim for durability. The MT600’s aluminum frame is optimized for off-road handling. The folding bike’s high-strength materials ensure it can withstand daily urban use and folding stresses. Both materials are suitable for their respective purposes, making this a tie in material quality.
